Social Disco Club became an essential chapter in the journey of Portuguese DJ and producer Humberto Matias, rooted in dancefloor culture and shaped by the enduring heritage of disco and electronic music.
The story began in 2007 at Trintaeum, Porto — a now-closed but hugely influential venue, widely regarded as one of the most important clubs in Portugal and a defining space for the city’s nightlife. It was there that Social Disco Club established his sound through a formative residency and label night, building a lasting connection with the dance community and setting the foundations for an international journey.
His rise was marked by a series of sought-after vinyl releases on respected European labels. In 2009, “The Way You Move” landed on Bear Funk (UK), featuring remixes from legendary British DJ Greg Wilson — a pioneering figure known for his electro-funk edits and as one of the first DJs to bring club music to British television — alongside Norway’s DiskJokke. The record travelled widely, earning support across the scene, including from DJ Harvey.
In 2010, he released “The Peaceful Warrior” on Is It Balearic? (UK), backed by remixes from Soft Rocks, Pacific Horizons, and Pharaoh Black Magic, expanding his presence within the balearic and leftfield disco circuit. The following year saw “We Made This Jack / Need You” on Belgium’s We Play House, a collaboration with Red D and Metrobox, further cementing his reputation for warm, groove-led club music.
In 2012, “Just One Touch” arrived via Under The Shade (UK), featuring vocals from Michelle Bee and remixes by Francis Inferno Orchestra and The Mekanism, adding another dimension to his evolving sound.
Alongside his original productions, Social Disco Club delivered remixes for artists and labels including The Love Supreme on Tirk (UK), Mirror People on Germany’s Permanent Vacation, and Jkriv feat. Adeline Michelle on Deep & Disco (US).
He also became widely recognised for his edits — a key part of his musical identity — with highlights including the official rework of Gichy Dan’s “Cowboys & Gangsters” for ZE Records / Strut on the Zevolution compilation, releases on Disco Deviance (UK), and the widely supported “Daft Funk” on his own imprint Hands Of Time Gold. The edit gained significant international attention, championed by Dimitri From Paris.
Over the years, Social Disco Club brought his sound to dancefloors across the globe, performing in cities such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Dubai, Seoul, Singapore, Mexico City, São Paulo, New York, and beyond. Festival appearances included Portugal’s Festival Sudoeste, Amsterdam Open Air and ADE, Seoul’s World DJ Festival, and Summer in the City in London.
Rooted in Porto but shaped by an international journey, Social Disco Club became a defining chapter in Humberto Matias’ musical path — an alias through which he left a lasting mark on dancefloors, vinyl culture, and the wider disco and electronic underground.

Social Disco Club tornou-se um capítulo essencial no percurso de Humberto Matias, DJ e produtor português, enraizado na cultura de pista e moldado pela herança duradoura do disco e da música eletrónica.
Tudo começou em 2007, no Trintaeum, no Porto — um clube hoje encerrado, mas amplamente considerado um dos espaços mais importantes da noite portuguesa e uma referência marcante na cidade. Foi aí que Social Disco Club afirmou o seu som através de uma residência e label night, criando uma ligação duradoura à comunidade de dança da cidade e lançando as bases para um percurso internacional.
A sua projeção foi acompanhada por uma série de edições em vinil em algumas das editoras europeias mais respeitadas. Em 2009, lançou “The Way You Move” na Bear Funk (UK), com remisturas da lenda britânica Greg Wilson — figura pioneira conhecida pelos seus edits electro-funk e por ter sido um dos primeiros DJs a levar música de clube à televisão inglesa — e do norueguês DiskJokke.
